Web application redesign
Watch2gether
Watch2gether is a web application that allows you to watch videos and simultaneously interact synchronously with other users through a video call or a chat conversation in which up to 100 people can join.
The objective of this project was to identify the main usability problems and redesign the application to improve the experience, making it more fluid, expressive and comfortable.

Communicating Emotions
Insight
During the interviews, many users mentioned that they wanted to feel more connected to others while watching videos together.
Being able to interpret the group's emotions made them feel accompanied, even though they were at a distance.
Need
Express and perceive emotions without having to constantly look at the chat or cameras, and without being distracted from the main content.
Solution
I designed a visual system of reactions that appears directly over the video, with smooth animations and colors associated with different moods.
This way, users can convey emotions without interrupting the experience or taking their eyes off the content.

Share opinions and comments
Insight
When watching videos in a group, the conversations became chaotic. Many wanted to comment without their message getting lost among so many replies.
Need
To be able to share opinions in a more private and focused way, without saturating the general chat or interrupting the group dynamic.
Solution
I incorporated different levels of privacy in the chat: one general, one for small groups, and another between specific users.
I also added the option to comment on specific moments in the video, which makes the conversations more natural and relevant.

Personal image
Insight
Several users didn't feel comfortable keeping their cameras on, but they also didn't want to lose the opportunity to show their presence or personality within the group.
Need
To give the option of expressing oneself without the need to physically show oneself, while maintaining a sense of connection with others.
Solution
I designed a customizable avatar system, where each person can create their own character, choose colors, and express basic emotions through small animated gestures.
This allowed users to maintain a sense of closeness without requiring constant exposure in front of the camera.
